Knowledge base integrations for all your company documentation
Your handbook lives in a drive, product decisions in a wiki and useful explanations in Slack. ChatDocument connects those sources so the whole team can ask company documentation in one place. Documents stay where they are, new and edited content is picked up automatically, and every sentence in an answer links to its source.
Connect the places your team already maintains
Bring company knowledge together without asking departments to rebuild their documentation. Start with the sources behind recurring questions, then connect the rest as your workspace grows.
| Source | What your team can ask about | Explore |
|---|---|---|
| Google Drive | Handbooks, process documents and shared team knowledge | Google Drive |
| SharePoint and OneDrive | Policies, department documents and working files | SharePoint and OneDrive |
| Confluence | Runbooks, project decisions and internal guidance | Confluence |
| Notion | Team pages, onboarding material and operating procedures | Notion |
| Dropbox | Company documents maintained in shared folders | Dropbox |
| Slack | Explanations and decisions in connected conversations | Slack |
| Document uploads | PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents | How it works |
| Websites and help centers | Published guidance alongside internal documentation | Support knowledge base |
Ask the question without choosing the right application
"What does a new manager need to approve before someone starts?" can involve HR guidance, an IT access process and an operations checklist. Employees ask across the spaces they can access, rather than guessing which application holds the answer.
"Which troubleshooting steps can we share with a customer?" can draw on a support runbook and the published help center. Citations show the document, section and space behind each sentence. Click a citation to open the passage and check the wording before using it.

Give every source a place and an owner
Connect the drives, wikis and channels your team uses. Organize the material into HR, Sales, Support, Legal, IT and Operations spaces, each with an owner. Keep sensitive department knowledge in private spaces.
Documents remain in their original sources. When someone edits guidance or adds a document, ChatDocument picks up the change automatically. Owners keep maintaining knowledge in the applications they already use, while employees keep asking from the same workspace.
For uploaded documents, add the team's PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Websites and help centers bring published information into the same question workflow. The source passage stays available for checking an answer against the original wording.
Source permissions follow the answer
Connecting a source does not grant everyone access to its contents. ChatDocument inherits source permissions, so employees receive answers only from documents they can already open. Department spaces add owners and membership, with admin, space owner, member and reader roles.
Read about permissions before bringing sensitive sources into a department space. The security page covers encryption, model training rules and deletion controls.
Turn repeated questions into maintained knowledge
Save useful answers for the team and share answers by link. Verified answers carry an owner, review date and version history, so a recurring explanation has someone responsible for checking it.
Business and Scale add knowledge gap detection, including unanswered questions grouped for the right owner and flags for conflicting or outdated documents. The Slack and Microsoft Teams bot on those plans brings sourced answers into direct messages and help channels.
FAQ
Which plans include connected sources?
Team includes 5 connected sources and 10 spaces. Business and Scale include all connectors, unlimited sources and unlimited spaces. Question and indexing limits still apply. Compare the full allowances on pricing.
What happens when connected documents do not answer?
ChatDocument says "not in your documents" and shows the closest passages it checked. It does not fill the gap with a guess. Employees can use those passages to make the missing guidance clear to its owner.
Is the Slack connector the same as the bot?
Slack can supply knowledge from connected conversations. The Slack bot answers questions inside Slack using the company sources a person can access. Bot access comes with Business and Scale.
