Knowledge base software your whole team can ask

Your team needs the policy, the process and the reason behind an answer. ChatDocument connects company documentation across drives, wikis, chat and uploaded documents so employees can ask in plain words. Each sentence links to its source, and each person gets answers only from documents they are allowed to open.

Try it on a sample company

Start with what employees need to know

"Who approves a new vendor?" can send someone through a purchasing guide, an approval policy and a chat thread. Knowledge base software should bring those sources into the answer and let the employee check the relevant passages. It should also say when the documents leave something unresolved.

ChatDocument gives HR, Sales, Support, Legal, IT and Operations their own department spaces inside a shared company workspace. Owners look after the documentation for their department. Employees ask within a space or across the spaces they can access, without needing to remember a folder name.

Keep useful documentation where it lives

Connect Google Drive, SharePoint and OneDrive, Confluence, Notion, Dropbox and Slack. Add uploaded PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, websites and help centers. New and edited documents are picked up on their own, so the knowledge base stays connected to the places where work happens.

There is no need to rewrite every process into a new page before employees can ask about it. Choose the relevant sources, assign department owners and invite the people who use that knowledge. The integrations overview shows the sources you can connect.

Open the passage behind the answer

Every answer sentence links to the document, section and space it came from. Click the citation to open the passage and check whether it applies to the situation. This matters when a general policy and a department procedure cover different parts of a question.

If the documentation does not answer the question, ChatDocument says "not in your documents" and shows the closest passages. An employee asking "Does this approval rule cover contractors?" can see what is documented and take the remaining question to the owner.

Make shared knowledge accountable

Source permissions carry into answers. Private spaces keep sensitive HR and Legal material within the right group, and workspace roles include admin, space owner, member and reader. Read how permissions apply before adding sensitive sources.

Verified answers have an owner, a review date and version history. Saved answers let the team reuse a useful explanation. On Business and Scale, unanswered questions are grouped for the right owner, and conflicting or outdated documents are flagged. The people responsible for a process can see where its documentation needs attention.

Choose how the team will use the knowledge base

Team includes verified and saved answers, roles and basic analytics. It costs $149 monthly for up to 15 people, or $74.50 per month billed yearly at $894, with 3,000 shared questions per month, 5 connected sources and 10 spaces.

Business adds Slack and Microsoft Teams bots, gap detection, onboarding paths and leadership reports. Scale adds SSO through SAML, SCIM, audit log, retention rules, API, webhooks and an intranet widget. See the plan details for people, question and indexing limits. Questions are shared usage, and deleting documents does not restore usage already consumed.

FAQ

Do we need to replace our existing wiki?

No. Connect the documentation your team already maintains. ChatDocument answers from those sources while their owners continue editing them where they are.

Can employees ask in their own language?

Yes. ChatDocument answers in the language of the question and links back to the passages used, so the source remains available to check.

Are our documents used to train models?

No. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest and are never used to train models. AI model providers are bound by contract not to train on your content. Read the security page for the data rules.

Give your team an answer they can check

Connect the documents behind a recurring employee question, set the right access and invite the department that owns the answer.
