Terms of service
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Who these terms are with
These terms govern your use of chatdocument.ai and the ChatDocument service. The service is operated by the administrator of the chatdocument.ai service. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you use ChatDocument for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms on its behalf. Contact: [email protected].
The service
ChatDocument lets you upload documents or sync them from connected drives, ask questions and receive answers drawn only from the documents in the space you select, with citations to the document and page. It also offers comparisons, extraction to tables, summaries, shared spaces and, on some plans, a website widget and an API. Features available on each plan are listed on the pricing page.
Accounts
You need a verified email address and a password to use the service. Keep your login details safe and tell us at [email protected] if you suspect someone else is using your account. Workspace owners decide who is invited and which role each member has.
Subscriptions and billing
- Plans are paid subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in advance.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
- You can cancel at any time in your account. Cancellation stops the next renewal, and access continues until the end of the period already paid.
- Prices are shown on the pricing page. Any change to the price of your plan applies from your next renewal, and we tell you by email before it does.
- Payments are final, as described in the refund policy.
- Enterprise plans may be billed by invoice.
Usage limits
Each plan has limits on seats, questions per month and per day, new pages per month, file size, spaces and documents per extraction, as listed on the pricing page. One cited answer counts as one question, each document in an extraction counts as one question and a comparison counts as three. A new page counts once per billing period and a scanned page counts as three. Deleting a document does not give pages or questions back. Questions through the widget and the API count toward the plan. When a limit is reached, that feature pauses until the limit resets or you move to a higher plan.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content you have no right to use, or content that is unlawful;
- use the service to infringe the rights of others or to break the law;
- try to access accounts, spaces or data that are not yours;
- probe, overload or disrupt the service, or get around usage limits;
- resell access to the service, or use it to build a competing service;
- use the widget or the API to expose documents you are not allowed to publish.
We may suspend access that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Your documents
You keep all rights to the documents you upload and to the answers produced from them. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and index your documents only to provide the service to you. We do not use your documents, questions or answers to train AI models. You can delete documents or whole spaces at any time.
Check the answers
ChatDocument answers from your documents and shows the cited passages. AI can still misread a document, so check each answer against the cited pages before you rely on it. Answers are not legal, financial, tax or investment advice and do not replace professional judgment.
Availability
We work to keep the service available and secure, but outside the Enterprise plan we do not promise a specific uptime. The Enterprise plan includes a service level of 99.9 percent monthly availability, as described in the Enterprise plan terms.
Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. After an account ends, documents and their index are deleted and removed from backups within 30 days.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or the rights consumers have under mandatory law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We tell account owners by email about significant changes before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law that applies to the administrator of the chatdocument.ai service, without affecting any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live as a consumer.
