Document chat features that answer only from your own files
ChatDocument reads the documents in a space you choose and answers with the page for every statement. Around that core sit the tools a team needs to work through contracts, policies, reports and decks: comparison, extraction to a spreadsheet, summaries, shared spaces with roles, connected drives, an embeddable widget and a REST API. Each feature below has its own page with the steps, the limits per plan and the questions people ask before they start.
Answers you can trace to a page
Every answer is built from passages retrieved from your documents, and each statement carries a citation with the document name and page number. Spreadsheets cite the sheet and cell range, decks cite the slide. Before an answer appears, code checks that each quoted passage exists in the file and contains the quoted text. When the documents do not hold the answer, ChatDocument says so and lists the closest passages it checked.
- Click any citation to open the document at the highlighted passage
- No gap filling from general knowledge
- Scanned PDFs read with OCR
More on how cited answers from documents are built and checked.
Compare two to five documents side by side
Put two versions of a contract, last year's and this year's policy, or several vendor proposals next to each other. ChatDocument lists what differs and gives the page on each side. Details on the compare documents AI page.
Pull terms and figures into a spreadsheet
Define your own columns, run them across a folder of documents and get a table where every cell links to the page it came from. Export to XLSX or CSV. See AI PDF to Excel.
Summaries with a citation on every line
A one page brief, a section by section outline or your own template, each line tied to its source page. See summarize documents with AI.
Spaces, roles and an audit log
Keep documents in separate spaces per team, client or matter. Invite people by email as owner, editor or asker, save threads, share an answer by link. Business and Enterprise add an audit log of who asked what and which pages answered. See AI document management.
A widget for your site or intranet
One script tag puts a cited assistant on a page, locked to a single space so it can only answer from the material you approved. See the document chat widget.
A REST API for upload, ask and extract
Send documents, ask questions and run extractions from your own code, with API keys per workspace. See the document question answering API.
Keep documents where they already live
Pick folders in a connected drive and ChatDocument keeps them in sync on a schedule, with a sync now button in each space.
