A Slite alternative that answers from your existing documents

Slite is a good place to write and keep a company wiki. ChatDocument is built for the opposite starting point: your policies, contracts and procedures already sit in Drive, SharePoint, Confluence or Notion, and the team needs sourced answers without rewriting anything. Compare both on price, setup and what each one is best at.

Per seat pricing and a team subscription scale differently

Slite lists Basic at $10 and Pro at $20 per user per month when billed yearly, with custom Enterprise pricing (checked on slite.com/pricing, November 2026). Basic includes 30 AI questions per seat each month inside Slite docs. Pro adds search across connected tools and a larger monthly credit allowance per seat. Confirm the current terms before you buy.

At those list prices a 15 person team on Pro pays about $300 a month, and 50 people pay about $1,000. ChatDocument Team costs $149 monthly for up to 15 people, Business $399 for up to 50 and Scale $999 for up to 200. Questions are pooled across the team instead of counted per seat, so one heavy user does not drain a personal allowance.

Cheaper on paper is not the whole decision. Slite also gives you an editor and a place to author pages, and that has value if you do not have documentation yet.

When Slite is the better choice

Pick Slite if your team wants one place to write the handbook from scratch, likes a clean editor and is happy to keep knowledge inside that wiki. For a small team starting with no documentation, a $10 seat plan can be the simplest route.

When ChatDocument is the better choice

Choose ChatDocument when the knowledge already exists as PDFs, Word and Excel files, slide decks and wiki pages spread over several tools, and nobody has time to migrate it. A new hire asks "What is our travel reimbursement limit for client visits?" and gets the answer with the policy section cited. If the documents do not answer, ChatDocument says "not in your documents" and shows the closest passages.

Department spaces have owners and private spaces keep sensitive files restricted. Business and Scale add gap detection that groups unanswered questions for the right owner and flags outdated or conflicting documents. Scale adds SAML SSO, SCIM, audit log, API and an intranet widget.

Test with your own questions before you decide

Pick ten real questions your team asks every week, including two the documents cannot answer. Run them in both tools. Check whether each answer shows the exact passage, whether restricted files stay hidden from the wrong person, and what happens when nothing matches. Price the result for your real headcount, not the minimum.
