ChatDocument

PDF AI that reads your file and shows the page behind every answer

ChatDocument is PDF AI built for people who need to trust the answer. You drop a PDF, ask in plain English, and every sentence of the reply comes with the page it was taken from. Click the page chip and the document opens at the highlighted passage. If the file does not say it, ChatDocument tells you so instead of guessing.

Try it on your PDF before you read further

Open the chat with PDF demo on the homepage, drop one PDF or pick one of the ready documents, and ask one question. You get a cited answer in seconds. No card needed for the demo.

  • Works with text PDFs and scanned PDFs read with OCR
  • The answer sits next to the page it came from
  • One PDF and one question, no account needed to see the result

What good PDF AI does with a long file

A 60 page agreement or a 200 page annual report hides the one clause or figure you need. ChatDocument splits the file by page, finds the passages that match your question and writes the answer only from those passages. Each quoted passage is checked in code to exist on the cited page and to contain the quoted text before you see the answer. A sentence that fails that check never reaches your screen.

  • Ask about dates, amounts, obligations, definitions or exceptions
  • Choose a short answer or a detailed one
  • Follow up in the same thread, the context stays
  • Turn the answer into a bullet list or a table

Why this is not a general chatbot with a file attached

A general chatbot mixes your PDF with everything it learned elsewhere, so a confident answer can come from nowhere in your document. ChatDocument answers only from the documents in the space you selected. When the answer is not there, it says it plainly and lists the closest passages it checked, with their pages, so you can see why. It never fills a gap from general knowledge.

  • Answers only from your files
  • A page citation on every statement
  • A plain "not in the document" when the text does not support an answer

From one PDF to a folder of them

Once you create your account, a single file becomes a space. Add more PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets or slide decks and ask across all of them at once. Compare two to five documents side by side, or pull the same fields out of many files into one table with AI PDF to Excel extraction. If you only need the gist, the AI PDF summarizer writes a one page or section by section summary with a citation on each line.

  • Compare versions of a contract or two vendor offers
  • Extract renewal dates, prices or parties into XLSX or CSV
  • Save threads and share an answer by link

FAQ

Does the PDF AI make things up

No. It writes only from passages in your file, checks each quoted passage against the page before showing it, and says when the file does not contain the answer.

Can it read scanned PDFs

Yes. Scanned pages are read with OCR. On paid plans a scanned page counts as 3 pages toward the monthly page limit.

Is my PDF used to train AI models

No. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and they are processed by AI model providers bound by contract not to train on your content.

What is the largest PDF I can upload

The demo reads one PDF of up to 15 pages. Paid plans accept files up to 50 MB on Starter, 100 MB on Team, 200 MB on Business and 500 MB on Enterprise.
