ChatDocument

Knowledge management software that keeps every answer tied to its source

Knowledge management is a governance job: who owns which documents, who may see them, which version is current, and what people were told. ChatDocument gives knowledge managers that control without asking anyone to rewrite content. The documents stay where they are maintained, the AI answers from them with page citations, and you can see what was asked and what answered it.

Control who knows what

  • Spaces as the unit of access, one per department, client, project or confidentiality level
  • Three roles per space: owner, editor and asker
  • Sources per space: uploads plus selected folders from Google Drive, SharePoint and OneDrive or Dropbox, synced on a schedule
  • Audit log on Business and Enterprise: who asked, when, and which document pages answered
  • SSO (SAML) on Enterprise so joiners and leavers follow your identity provider
  • Deleting a document or a space removes the document and its index, and the data leaves backups within 30 days

Knowledge management system software that starts from what exists

Many knowledge projects stall at migration: hundreds of PDFs, decks and spreadsheets waiting to become pages in a new tool. ChatDocument indexes them as they are. PDF (including scans read with OCR), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plain text, Markdown and web pages by URL go into a space, and people can ask them the same day. The owner of a policy keeps editing it in the drive, and the sync brings the new version in.

A knowledge system that refuses to guess

For a knowledge manager the worst outcome is a confident wrong answer that nobody can trace. A generic chatbot produces exactly that, because it mixes your documents with general knowledge. ChatDocument answers only from documents in the selected space, cites document and page for every statement, and checks each cited passage in code before showing it. When the answer is not in the documents, it says so and lists the closest passages checked.

  • Unanswered questions show you where content is missing
  • Citations make outdated documents visible quickly
  • Shared answers keep their sources when forwarded

See what the organisation actually asks

Saved threads and, on Business and Enterprise, the audit log show which questions come up and which documents answer them. That gives you an evidence based list of documents worth improving and topics that have no owner yet. For the search side of the same setup, see AI document search. For a lighter team setup focused on staff questions, see internal knowledge base software.

FAQ

Do we need to restructure our documents first

No. Upload or connect them as they are. Clear headings help summaries, but no conversion into articles is required.

Can different departments keep their knowledge separate

Yes. Each space has its own members and sources. A member of HR spaces does not see Finance spaces unless invited.

Is there an audit trail for compliance reviews

Yes, on Business and Enterprise. The audit log records questions and the document pages cited in answers.

How is billing handled for larger organisations

Enterprise includes invoice billing and is bought self-serve with Get Enterprise. Payments are final, and you can cancel any time with access to the end of the paid period.
